About the Baltic Forest Trail
The Baltic Forest Trail (also called the Forest Trail, or Miško takas, Mežtaka, and Metsa matkarada) is a long-distance hiking trail that passes through all three Baltic Countries - Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. It starts on the Polish-Lithuanian border in a town called Lazdijai and ends in the capital of Estonia, Tallinn, also passing through the Latvian capital city of Riga and the second-largest city in Lithuania, Kaunas. It takes you through some of the most remote parts of North-Eastern Europe, with lots of forests, meadows, rivers, lakes, and wildlife. The trail itself is very well waymarked and accessible, with public transportation options and accommodations all along the way.
