About the Annapurna Base Camp Trek
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek, other called "ABC Trek" or "Annapurna Sanctuary Trek", is one of the most popular long-distance hiking trails in Nepal, Himalayas, right after the Everest Base Camp Trek and the Annapurna Circuit. It's so popular because it allows hikers to experience the rough, daunting, and deadly feel of Annapurna Mountain, without having any mountaineering experience. Still, it's considered a fairly difficult trek and it usually takes 7-12 days to finish. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek starts at Pokhara, which is reachable by plane. From there, you can take a 2-hour bus to get to the real start of the trail - Nayapul. Then the trail follows steep mountain ridges and valleys up to the Annapurna Base Camp and then turns around and goes back to Nayapul through a slightly different route. Although you can hike it solo, most people choose to do guided tours, as they include meals, sleeping accommodations, and transport.
